Maverick Viñales took third place in the last ever season in the history of the category. He achieved this position and the title of Best 125cc Rider thanks to his last two wins at the Malaysia G.P. and Valencia G.P respectively. The win in Malaysia came before the death of Marco Simoncelli tinged the World Championship season with grief and shook the entire family of the motorcycle world. However, his win at the last Grand Prix held in Valencia served to pay tribute to the tragic death of Marco Simoncelli and provided the perfect finale to a historic season for Maverick and the team. The young Roses rider won the last race of the season, and the last in the history of the 125cc class in the World Championships, to secure his ninth podium and fourth win of the season. It is remarkable that he was named “Rookie of the Year” and “Best 125cc Rider”. As testament to his integrity as a person, we include his dedication following the win: “I would like to congratulate Nico Terol for winning the title and to thank the whole team, my family and my fans. Today has been a very special and emotional day. This fantastic result is dedicated to the memory of Marco Simoncelli and to our Joan Xufré”. In turn, Kenny Noyes took fifth position in Moto2, achieving his best result of the year and ending a difficult season for the Avintia rider on a positive note.
