Featuring Julián Simón (Moto2) and Maverick Viñales (Moto3) and developing the first Spanish MotoGP team. Avintia Racing is the result of the Avintia Group strategic vision and will benefit from the experience of By Queroseno Racing (BQR) who will lead the sports and technical areas, to develop the first Spanish MotoGP motorcycle. Avintia Racing is an ambitious and innovative project which, from the 2012 season will have a presence in all the World Championship categories (MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3). The Moto2 and Moto3 organisations, to be led by Ricard Jové (Team Manager), will have Julián Simón (Moto2) and Maverick Viñales (Moto3) as sole riders in each category. The MotoGP organisation will be headed up by Raúl Romero (Team Manager) and he will develop the first Spanish MotoGP motorcycle at his Barcelona headquarters as a demonstration of Avintia Racing’s innovation and development capability. The objective of this organisation is to develop a competitive motorcycle with a guaranteed future. Avintia Racing: futuristic vision, experience and specialisation The Avintia Group is resolutely backing BQR to lead the sports management of Avintia Racing as “this team of people constitutes one of the company’s main assets, from which it will optimise and improve on the team’s performance over the seasons to come, and also create a progressive specialisation in all areas of the organisation and the definitive establishment of the team within MotoGP”, states Antonio Martín Jiménez, Avintia Group President. For this, the sports management team will have all the confidence and support of the Avintia Group central organisation for other specialised areas such as planning and control, financial, legal, human resources, marketing and communication. “The company considers this new challenge as a great opportunity for extension and recognition of the Avintia brand at a national and international level. Similarly, it opens a new line of specialisation in sports management for the Avintia Group. The Avintia team of personnel will work towards excellence with the objective of strengthening the strategic management of their own team through specialisation, innovation and technological development”, concludes Company President, Antonio Martín Jiménez. In turn, Raúl Romero, owner of By Queroseno Racing (BQR), is enthusiastic about the new alliance: “This union is going to allow us to grow and position ourselves even better within the difficult world of high level competition. BQR, after twenty years in this sector, will continue to rely on its greatest strength, its team personnel, and now, together with the Avintia Group, has the potential for further expansion and growth in all areas. Together, we have a winning project in Moto2 and Moto3 and another, as a future investment, competing this year in MotoGP with a Spanish motorcycle”. Simón-Viñales: Quality Guaranteed The sporting objectives of the organisation directed by Ricard Jové will form a team that aspires to win the Moto2 and Moto3 championships with Simón and Viñales respectively. Both riders will have access to front row equipment in each category and proven, sound technical support. Avintia Racing will be represented in Moto2 by Julián Simón (Villacañas – Toledo, 1987) who will have all the necessary technical and human resources at his disposal to reach the objectives set by the sports management team. Simón has already demonstrated his winning potential, having been 125cc World Champion and Runner-up in the Moto2 World Championships. In Moto3, the team will have Maverick Viñales (Figueres – Gerona, 1995) as their sole rider and great hope in the category. In his debut year, Viñales was crowned “2011 Rookie of the Year” and “2011 Best Rider” in the recently disbanded 125cc category. Many consider the young Spanish rider to be the favourite for this season having finished in third position in the World Championships, with 9 podiums, 4 wins and a record-breaking points score. First MotoGP motorcycle “Made in Spain” The main objective of the team directed by Raúl Romero will be to build a competent and assured organisation in the premier class, MotoGP. The presence of Avintia Racing in MotoGP this year is seen by Team Manager, Raúl Romero as “a sound future investment, based on the skill of the riders and technical personnel, innovation and technological development”. Avintia Racing will strive to become leaders of the new CRT category which will compete in MotoGP. For this, the new team will become the first Spanish team to develop a MotoGP bike, developed entirely in Spain. This bike will be assembled at the team’s headquarters in Barcelona and will feature a Kawasaki engine. For developing the motorcycle, Avintia Racing will be using Spanish rider Iván Silva (Spanish Champions and European Stock Extreme Champion with Kawasaki) and Colombian rider Yonny Hernández.
